10 años de quitarse el miedo

Hablar de miedo en el cine no significa sólo mostrar sombras, sangre o monstruos. También es enfrentarse al verdadero terror: ese que susurra “no se puede”, “no hay presupuesto”, “nadie quiere ver terror en México”.

Durante una década, Marcos Muñoz Flores ha recorrido ese sendero espinoso, donde cada cortometraje se convirtió en un exorcismo contra el miedo a fracasar.

De “Carroñero” a “Ven a mí”, de “Cristal, sangre y azúcar” a “No dejes de mirarlos”, de “Salpicón” a “Cascada”, hasta llegar a “En el nombre de…”, esta retrospectiva revela la evolución de una mirada obsesiva por el horror, la terquedad de cumplir un sueño y la satisfacción de seguir contando historias que erizan la piel.

Porque el verdadero viaje de este cineasta independiente ha sido aprender a quitarse el miedo para poder hablar del miedo. Y en cada proyección recordarnos que el cine de terror en México respira, grita y sobrevive gracias a quienes se atreven a soñar donde otros prefieren cerrar los ojos.

Talking about fear in cinema is not only about showing shadows, blood, or monsters. It is also about confronting true terror: the one that whispers “it can’t be done,” “there’s no budget,” “no one wants to watch horror in Mexico.”

For a decade, Marcos Muñoz Flores has walked that thorny path, where each short film became an exorcism against the fear of failure.

From Carroñero to Ven a mí, from Cristal, sangre y azúcar to No dejes de mirarlos, from Salpicón to Cascada, and finally En el nombre de…, this retrospective reveals the evolution of a gaze obsessed with horror, the stubbornness of pursuing a dream, and the satisfaction of continuing to tell stories that send shivers down the spine.

Because the true journey of this independent filmmaker has been learning to shed fear in order to speak about fear. And with every screening, reminding us that horror cinema in Mexico breathes, screams, and survives thanks to those who dare to dream where others prefer to close their eyes.
