SELECCIÓN OFICIAL 2025

Te invitamos a participar en la sexta edición de ANIMAL Film Fest, que se llevará a cabo los días 2, 3 y 4 de octubre de 2025, con un modelo híbrido (presencial y en línea) en la ciudad de Morelia, Michoacán, México.

Recomendamos leer la convocatoria completa antes de registrar tus cortometrajes.

La inscripción y participación en la 6ª edición de ANIMAL Film Fest implica la plena aceptación de este reglamento.

CONVOCATORIA

ROT Movie Makers invita al público en general, así como a cineastas, realizadores independientes y profesionales, estudiantes de cine, comunicación, animación, artes visuales, multimedia y carreras afines, a participar en la sexta edición de ANIMAL Film Fest, que se llevará a cabo los días 2, 3 y 4 de octubre de 2025 en la ciudad de Morelia, Michoacán, México.

AFF es una producción de ROT Movie Makers.

BASES

1. Los cortometrajes deben cumplir con todos los requisitos de la convocatoria para ser aceptados en las diferentes categorías.

2. Al registrar sus películas, los participantes aceptan que, en caso de ser seleccionados, su participación incluirá exhibiciones tanto presenciales como en línea.

3. El registro se realiza en línea mediante las plataformas FilmFreeway, Festhome y MoviBeta.

4. Se aceptan cortometrajes de todos los países.

5. No hay restricción en el formato original de realización (puede ser desde un smartphone hasta cualquier tipo de cámara).

6. No existe límite en el número de trabajos inscritos por realizador, productor o distribuidor; sin embargo, cada obra deberá inscribirse por separado y en una sola categoría.

7. Las inscripciones para la 6ª edición de ANIMAL Film Fest estarán abiertas del lunes 10 de febrero de 2025 al domingo 25 de julio de 2025.

Nota: Las plataformas de inscripción se rigen por su horario local. Por favor, consulta las bases y condiciones de uso en cada plataforma, según corresponda.

8. Los participantes podrán presentar trabajos en las siguientes categorías:

• Cortometraje michoacano.

• Cortometraje mexicano.

• Cortometraje internacional.

9. Los géneros aceptados son horror, terror, suspenso y/o thriller. Se aceptarán cortometrajes de ficción, documental, animación, proyectos experimentales y estudiantiles, siempre que pertenezcan a alguno de estos géneros.

10. Duración máxima: 30 minutos (incluyendo créditos de entrada y salida). El comité de selección podrá hacer excepciones en casos específicos.

11. No se aceptan proyectos incompletos.

12. Podrán participar producciones de cualquier año.

13. No podrán inscribirse cortometrajes que hayan participado en ediciones anteriores de ANIMAL Film Fest.

14. No se aceptarán videoclips, ni trabajos con fines comerciales o propagandísticos.

15. El registro no garantiza la aceptación en el festival.

16. Para ser seleccionado no es requisito ser estreno en México, podrán participar cortometrajes que ya vieron exhibición en otros festivales realizados en el país o fuera de él.

17. Los cortometrajes seleccionados serán contactados mediante el correo electrónico proporcionado en las plataformas de inscripción.

18. La lista de seleccionados será publicada el lunes 25 de agosto de 2025 en nuestra web oficial (animalfilmfest.com) y redes sociales (Facebook, Instagram y X).

19. La selección oficial la hará el comité organizador.

20. El comité de premiación (jurado calificador) estará integrado por tres expertos en la materia.

21. La decisión de estos dos comités es inapelable y es a criterio de los mismos, por tal motivo no se dará ninguna explicación a los realizadores o productores de los trabajos no seleccionados.

22. Una vez seleccionados los cortometrajes, los realizadores contarán con un plazo que se les dará por medio de correo electrónico para rectificar su información.

23. Se solicitará a los representantes de las obras seleccionadas que firmen un acuerdo que autorice al festival la exhibición de sus cortometrajes, tanto en proyecciones presenciales como en línea, durante los días del evento.

24. Las obras seleccionadas deberán proporcionar materiales obligatorios, como archivo digital del cortometraje, sinopsis, ficha técnica, póster y fotogramas.

25. El material enviado de los trabajos seleccionados se utilizará con fines de difusión y promoción del festival. Se usará un extracto del cortometraje no mayor al 20% de la duración total de la película en caso de no contar con un tráiler promocional.

26. Las películas en un idioma distinto al español deberán incluir subtítulos en español integrados en el archivo. De igual manera, las obras habladas en español deberán entregarse con subtítulos en inglés integrados en el archivo. Este requisito es obligatorio y no se harán excepciones.

27. Los trabajos seleccionados podrán formar parte de la muestra LIMBO, organizada por ANIMAL Film Fest durante 2025 y 2026, previa a la séptima edición del festival. Esta muestra se llevará a cabo sin fines de lucro ni cobro de cuotas a asistentes o sedes.

28. El comité organizador de este festival establecerá las fechas, horarios y lugares de exhibición de cada película seleccionada. Se darán a conocer en nuestras redes sociales.

29. Todos los filmes seleccionados serán conservados por el comité como parte del acervo filmográfico de ANIMAL Film Fest.

30. Ningún cortometraje podrá ser retirado del programa del festival después de su selección oficial.

31. ANIMAL Film Fest (AFF) no pagará por los derechos de exhibición (screening fees) del material participante.

32. El cortometraje deberá ser registrado por un titular (de preferencia productor o director), ya que, si resultara ganador, el premio se entregará a su nombre.

33. Los titulares del registro son responsables de asegurar los derechos legales sobre sus obras.

34. Elementos del cortometraje, como la banda sonora, el guion, los personajes, entre otros, deberán ser originales, salvo que se demuestre la adquisición de los derechos correspondientes. Cualquier caso de plagio será motivo de descalificación automática.

35. Al inscribirse, el participante declara y garantiza que tiene pleno derecho legal y autoridad para presentar el proyecto para su consideración por parte de AFF. Asimismo, asegura que se han obtenido todos los consentimientos, licencias y aprobaciones necesarias. En caso de que el trabajo sea aceptado por AFF, el participante otorga a AFF el derecho de utilizar el material para fines promocionales no comerciales, sin limitaciones.

36. El titular del registro indemnizará a los organizadores de AFF contra cualquier reclamación, demanda, costo, daño, gasto (incluidos honorarios legales), procedimiento o pérdida resultante de la proyección de la película en el festival o de reclamaciones de terceros.

37. Todos los trabajos seleccionados recibirán laureles de selección oficial y los ganadores recibirán laureles de ganador. Se otorgará una estatuilla y reconocimiento en cada categoría:

• Mejor cortometraje michoacano.

• Mejor cortometraje mexicano.

• Mejor cortometraje internacional.

• Mejor cortometraje animado.

• Mejor guion michoacano.

• Mejor actriz.

• Mejor actor.

• Mejor fotografía.

• Mejor maquillaje.

• Mejores efectos visuales.

• Mejor personaje.

• Mejor montaje.

• Mejor diseño de arte.

38. Habrá un ganador único e inapelable en cada una de las categorías y si el comité de premiación así lo considera, otorgará menciones honoríficas.

39. El jurado tendrá la facultad de declarar alguna categoría como desierta.

40. La lista de los proyectos ganadores de la 6ª Edición de ANIMAL Film Fest será publicada en nuestra web oficial y redes sociales para su conocimiento y consideración el día 5 de octubre de 2025.

41. Todo premio otorgado que no sea recibido en la ceremonia de clausura, podrá ser retirado en las oficinas de ANIMAL Film Fest, en la ciudad de Morelia, Michoacán, México. Una vez terminado el festival, se dará un mes para entrega de estatuillas y certificados. Se les notificarán todos los detalles mediante correo electrónico.

42. En caso de no poder recoger la estatuilla, el costo de envío es responsabilidad de quien inscribió la película.

43. La inscripción y participación en la 6ª Edición de ANIMAL Film Fest implica la plena aceptación de este reglamento.

44. Toda situación no prevista en esta convocatoria será resuelta por el comité organizador de este festival.

OFFICIAL SELECTION 2024

We invite you to participate in the sixth edition of ANIMAL Film Fest, which will take place on October 2, 3, and 4, 2025, with a hybrid format (in-person and online) in the city of Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico.

Registration and participation in the 6th edition of ANIMAL Film Fest imply full acceptance of these regulations.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

ROT Movie Makers invites general public, as well as independent and professional filmmakers, film students, communication, animation, visual arts, multimedia and careers related, to participate in the sixth edition of ANIMAL Film Fest, to be held on October 2, 3, and 4, 2025, in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico.

AFF is a ROT Movie Makers’ production.

RULES & TERMS

1. Short films must meet all the requirements in the call for submissions to be accepted into the different categories.

2. By submitting their films, participants agree that, if selected, their participation will include both in-person and online screenings.

3. Registration is conducted online via FilmFreeway, Festhome and MoviBeta.

4. Short films from all countries are welcome.

5. There is no restriction on the original production format (ranging from a smartphone to any type of camera).

6. There is no limit to the number of entries submitted by a filmmaker, producer, or distributor. However, each work must be registered separately and in only one category.

7. Registrations for the 6th edition of ANIMAL Film Fest will be open from Friday, January 10, 2025, to Sunday, July 25, 2025.
Note: Registration platforms operate according to their local time zones. Please review the terms and conditions of use for each platform.

8. Participants may submit works in the following categories:

• Michoacan short film.

• Mexican short film.

• International short film.

9. The accepted genres are horror, terror, suspense, and/or thriller. Short films in fiction, documentary, animation, experimental projects, and student films are accepted, provided they fall within these genres.

10. Maximum duration: 30 minutes (including opening and closing credits). The selection committee may make exceptions in specific cases.

11. Incomplete projects will not be accepted.

12. Productions from any year are eligible.

13. Short films that have participated in previous editions of ANIMAL Film Fest are not eligible.

14. Music videos and works with commercial or propagandistic purposes will not be accepted.

15. Registration does not guarantee acceptance into the festival.

16. To be selected, films do not need to be premieres in Mexico; short films that have been screened at other festivals in or outside the country are eligible.

17. Selected short films will be contacted via the email provided during registration.

18. The list of selected films will be published on Monday, August 25, 2025, on our official website (animalfilmfest.com) and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and X).

19. The official selection will be determined by the organizing committee.

20. The awards committee (jury) will consist of three subject matter experts.

21. The decisions of both committees are final and at their sole discretion. Therefore, no explanations will be provided to filmmakers or producers of non-selected works.

22. Once selected, filmmakers will have a designated timeframe, communicated via email, to correct their information.

23. Representatives of the selected works will be asked to sign an agreement authorizing the festival to screen their short films, both in-person and online, during the event.

24. Selected works must provide mandatory materials, including a digital file of the short film, synopsis, technical sheet, poster, and stills.

25. Submitted materials from selected works will be used for festival promotion and dissemination purposes. An excerpt no longer than 20% of the total film duration may be used if a promotional trailer is not available.

26. Films in languages other than Spanish must include Spanish subtitles embedded in the file. Similarly, Spanish-language works must include English subtitles embedded in the file. This requirement is mandatory, and no exceptions will be made.

27. Selected works may become part of the LIMBO showcase organized by ANIMAL Film Fest during 2025 and 2026, leading up to the seventh edition of the festival. This showcase will be non-profit, with no fees for attendees or venues.

28. The festival’s organizing committee will determine the dates, times, and venues for the screening of each selected film, which will be announced on our social media platforms.

29. All selected films will be preserved by the committee as part of the ANIMAL Film Fest archive.

30. No short film may be withdrawn from the festival program after its official selection.

31. ANIMAL Film Fest (AFF) will not pay screening fees for submitted works.

32. The short film must be registered by one representative (preferably the producer or director), as any awards won will be granted in their name.

33. The registrants are responsible for securing the legal rights to their works.

34. Elements of the short film, such as the soundtrack, script, characters, among others, must be original, unless proof of rights acquisition is provided. Any plagiarism will result in automatic disqualification.

35. By registering, the participant declares and guarantees that they have the full legal right and authority to submit the project for consideration by AFF and that all necessary consents, licenses, and approvals have been obtained. If the work is accepted by AFF, the participant grants AFF the right to use the material for non-commercial promotional purposes, without limitations.

36. The registrant will indemnify AFF organizers against any claims, demands, costs, damages, expenses (including legal fees), proceedings, or losses resulting from the screening of the film at the festival or third-party claims.

37. All selected works will receive official selection laurels, and winners will receive winner laurels. Each category will award a statuette and recognition:

• Best Michoacan short film.

• Best Mexican short film.

• Best international short film.

• Best animated short film. 

• Best Michoacan Screenplay.

• Best actress.

• Best actor.

• Best cinematography.

• Best makeup.

• Better visual effects.

• Best character.

• Better film editing.

• Best art design.

38. There will be one unique and final winner per category, and the awards committee may grant honorable mentions if deemed appropriate.

39. The jury may declare a category void if necessary.

40. The list of winners of the 6th edition of ANIMAL Film Fest will be published on our official website and social media platforms on October 5, 2025.

41. Any awards not collected during the closing ceremony may be picked up at ANIMAL Film Fest’s offices in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico. After the festival, there will be a one-month period for the delivery of statuettes and certificates. Details will be sent via email.

42. If unable to collect the statuette in person, shipping costs are the responsibility of the registrant.

43. Registration and participation in the 6th edition of ANIMAL Film Fest imply full acceptance of these regulations.

44. Any situation not foreseen in this call for submissions will be resolved by the festival’s organizing committee.
